frigid basketball "goal"

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2023.01.25

The Boy has a semi-portable basketball net that sits in our driveway. They call it a "basketgoal" in Japan. Anyway, the wind was strong enough to shift the thing yesterday. I shifted it back this morning and as I did so I heard ice crashing in the usually-water-filled base. Brr!

Tokyo winters are a bit like Halifax winters in one regard: the humidity makes you feel the cold more. There are differences, however: by late March there are strawberries in the fields in the city where we live.
